Study Permit

Your gateway to world-class education in Canada

A Canadian study permit allows international students to study at Designated Learning Institutions (DLIs) in Canada. With a study permit, you can work part-time during your studies and full-time during breaks, and may be eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) after completing your program.

What is a Study Permit?

A study permit is a document issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) that allows foreign nationals to study at designated learning institutions (DLIs) in Canada. Most international students need a study permit to study in Canada, unless their program is 6 months or less.

With a study permit, you can work on campus without a work permit, and may be eligible to work off campus part-time during academic sessions and full-time during scheduled breaks. After graduation, you may qualify for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), which can lead to permanent residence.
